Pitti in many colours!!!! Special events and projects revealed

Story by Ivan Guerrero

That’s Pitticolor! will be the new (and colorful) layout designed by Oliviero Baldini that will bring up the spirit of the Fortezza da Basso, the official venue of the fair. Above: Brazilian model André Bona stars in Pitti Uomo’s first ever clip signed by Luca Finotti.

From June 16 to 19, Pitti Uomo will celebrate its 88th edition and for the occasion a new lineup of special events and shows are on schedule in Florence!
In addition to the previously announced guest designers ( Menswear: Moschino by Jeremy Scott and Womenswear: Thomas Tait) Pitti brings again its project dedicated to support fresh talent in fashion; Pitti Italics, featuring this season: Arthur Arbesser, Casamadre and Louis Leeman‘Il Signor Nino’, a special exhibition celebrating Italian men’s fashion figure Nino Cerruti curated by Angelo Flaccavento and Nino Cerruti himself, and Carlo Brandelli for Kilgour as the Designer Project, who will  host a site-specific performance at the magnificent Palazzo Medici Riccardi.
Important to mention that the Pitti W section of the fair dedicated to womenswear, ceases its labelled participation, however some womens collections might be showcased within the tradeshow as an exercise of integration in some brands.

The agenda also includes a special edition of the Guest Nation Project; Constellation Africa with ITC Ethical Fashion Initiative, a new setting to promote young and talented designers from Africa,  a new edition of the Who Is On Next? competition in cooperation with Alta Roma and L’Uomo Vogue, the presentation of Ports 1961 Spring/Summer 2016 Collection,  C.P. Company’s 40th Anniversary’s event, ‘The Civilization of Color’ exhibition by Cariaggi (the art of dyeing textiles) to be held in Palazzo Vecchio and a presentation of the Calcio Storico Fiorentino (Florence Historic Football team) in Piazza Santa Croce as a welcoming act to the visitors of the international tradeshow, just to mention some of the highlights this season.

You can find some my coverage/backstage photography and all the previous events of Pitti Uomo, HERE and HERE.
1150 brands/ collections are expected to be present this season. 40% of the total are from outside of Italy. The tradeshow will be divided in 15 sections and a bunch of special projects/initiatives from department stores around the world are scheduled for this edition, for example Saks Fifth Avenue will launch a special project promoting a group of Italian brands (including some Pitti Uomo iconic names) in all the stores throughout the United States. Also a special issue of the Saks catalogue featuring iconic sites of Florence is set to be released.

The Male Model Music Project in Italy Part 7 FALL-WINTER 2015-16 EDITION/ Season Photographic Review & Backstage Inspection Series!

Stories & photos by Ivan Guerrero
Last minute preparation before hitting the Messagerie Fall/Winter 2015-16 runway at Stazione Leopolda, Florence.

Despite the fact that it has gotten more and more difficult to be able to do it every time, do not miss the traditional photo review of my Fall/Winter 2015-16 season during my trip to Italy for the men's collections – as you know, this time I collaborated with NOB covering some cool backstage in Florence and Milan. Looking forward to attending the upcoming Spring/Summer 2016 Edition and in case I am not able to do it, please understand that I am not the kind of blogger or journalist that gets nice presents and thousands of dollars every year to travel around the world (haha). Rest assured that I will try my best to bring  you another piece of my view behind the scenes so I am still looking for a way to make it possible. Fashion is an experience and sometimes you need to bleed in order to capture a part of it. Enjoy!

British actress and fashion muse, Tilda Swinton causes a stir between the guests and the press after her performance in ‘Cloakroom’, an exclusive and unique act created in collaboration with Olivier Saillard (wears a white shirt and glasses) held at Teatro La Pergola during the 87th edition of Pitti Uomo in Florence, Italy.
‘Cloakroom -Vestiaire Obligatoire’ is the latest part of a series of performance works/collaborations between Saillard and Swinton, that intend to show a different apprach to fashion.
In this particular episode,Tilda Swinton plays a wardrobe/cloakroom employee who invites the audience to deliver one of his garments as she hands a ticket with a number. She contemplates and interacts in many amusing and interesting ways with the coats, scarfs and jackets, bringing out the spirit of the clothes!
In the image, you can see the ending of the performance when Tilda requests the tickets and hands back the borrowed clothes to their respective owners, assisted by Olivier Saillard.
