Exclusive from the UK: The Sounds of Zander

Text & interview by Ivan Guerrero

Volume 1

The first installment of this music selection series corresponds to Zander Hodgson, newcomer model and aspiring actor from the Midlands in the UK.

Despite his short time in the business, he has already been portraited by London based photographer Kai Z Feng, and also by Ian Cole, emerging fashion and art photographer who has recently launched Supplementaire where Zander was featured in the cover and in an editorial entitled Beach Ritual. He has also upcoming appearances in editorials for Drama Magazine, Guapo Magazine , Vanity Teen and Vogue UK , just to mention some.
He also did the Orschel-Read Autumn/Winter 2010/11 show at London's Fashion Week early this year.

Zander talked to The Male Model Music Project and shared with us his music selection!

On modeling
"I signed with MandP models in London just before December 2009. I have been doing a lot of test shoots and editorials to make my portfolio strong. In this time I have also been to hundreds of castings walking all around london with my a-z and my ipod. It's been a lot of fun!".

On music and it's relation with his life and work
"I love music. I am lost without my ipod!. I listen to it all the time on the train, between castings, before an audition, before going out, going to sleep. It gears me up for the day, picks me up when I'm down and puts me in a great mood. Music is very important to me!!!" he adds.

On his music selection for the project
"I have an eclectic taste because I grew up listening to my mum and dad's records so I love a lot of old music but also enjoy new songs. "
"Haha I can't believe I got so many songs and i could still put more!!!"
"My all time favorite musicians and singers are Michael Jackson and Prince. All the songs I chose for this project mean something to me whether it's that it reminds me of a certain time, have good lyrics or just put me in a good mood. "

On his plans and expectations
"Although I enjoy modeling, my main goal is to become an actor. I am currently auditioning to study at a drama school in London and thinking of applying in America since I recently got my green card (official document that allows you to live and work legally in the country). I have appeared in various british TV shows such as Shameless, The Misfits and often appear in Hollyoaks."

Zander, Welcome to the project !
