PORTS 1961's New Collaboration with Michael Lau

Ports 1961 and Creative Director Milan Vukmirovic, in an intimate event, unveiled the second toy in a series of three designed in collaboration with Hong Kong artist Michael Lau, at the New York City menswear flagship on May 19th 2016. With Michael Lau, the 'Godfather' of the designer toy movement, Ports 1961 released the first figure, the skater, in Hong Kong in May 2015.

Vukmirovic's Spring-Summer 2016 collection has inspired Lau to create a 9-foot tall surfer figure for the second in the series, which features the key themes of the collection including the star camo print, #followme, and Navajo embroidery motifs. Following the unveiling, the sculpture installation will be on view through mid July 2016.

The third and final figure in the series will be revealed in early 2017.

Michael Lau is widely known for his designer toys inspired by street culture, hip-hop and skate culture. Effortlessly cool and masculine, Lau's work is well matched for the forward-thinking approach to menswear that Milan Vukmirovic has brought to Ports 1961.

KARL LAGERFELD - Visions of Fashion/ Photography Exhibition!

A retrospective of Karl Lagerfeld’s photography will take place at Palazzo Pitti in Florence, on the occasion of Pitti Uomo 90 as a part of their program of hot events this season that will include (as previously announced) Russian Gosha Rubchinskiy’s guest designer show, Raf Simons' special project, Fausto Puglisi menswear collection debut, Lucio Vanotti and Japanese Label Visvim’s presentation.
This exhibition will be curated by Eric Pfrunder and Gerhard Steidl and will represent Karl Lagerfeld’s entire photographic work featuring also some unpublished photographs , assembling an extraordinary collection of more than 200 images created using a variety of techniques including daguerreotypes, platinum prints, polaroid transfers, resinotypes, screen-prints and digital prints.
On show until October 23rd, 2016 - KARL LAGERFELD - Visions of Fashion is made possible thanks to the recent agreement of collaboration with the Gallerie degli Uffizi signed by the Fondazione Pitti Immagine Discovery, with the support of Centro di Firenze per la Moda Italiana and Pitti Immagine.
The exhibition will start from the grand staircase, Scalone del Moro, and wind its way through the rooms of the Galleria Palatina, the Sala Bianca and the two rooms of the Appartamenti degli Arazzi in a continuous dialogue between the sizes of the pictures and the exhibition areas: from the smaller, subtle images to be shown in the Galleria Palatina, almost as if to punctuate the tour of the masterpiece-filled museum, to the imposing pictures in the Appartamenti degli Arazzi that converse with the beautiful tapestries on display.
Looking forward to seeing you in Florence!!
